Hope you’re all well, Stepping into summer with beautiful sunshine…. Fingers crossed!
A big thank you to everyone who supported the Alzheimer’s Tea Day on the 5th of May. We had a wonderful day and so many residents came over to the training room which was transformed into the tea room for the morning. Both Chef Paula and Paula Stafford a long with Catriona our activities co-ordinator, did a fantastic job organising the day and everyone seemed to really enjoy the atmosphere. You were all so generous and we raised a fantastic €750 in total which will go to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland in our Local community in Wexford.
On a follow on; the Alzheimer’s society run social clubs one day each month for those who are living with dementia along with their friends and families. They are a great support network so please check it out if you need a bit of extra support. They’re website www.alzheimer.ie is great for information and pointing you in the right direction.
We had our relatives meeting on Wednesday evening last. Thank you to everyone who came along. Its great to speak to you all and it’s very important to us that we keep you as up to date as possible about what’s going on here and any updates in regulations etc. We have attached a summary of what was discussed for you and if you have any questions please come in and have a chat with us. We always appreciate your ideas, suggestions and feedback.
Its time again for our Annual Resident’s Summer Garden Party. This year, the Garden Party will be on Thursday the 20th of June from 2 o clock. Hopefully we will have the wonderful weather and we will be out again in the sunshine in our back garden. We hope to see as many of you as possible to have a lovely day with the residents for a cup of tea, an ice cream and a few nibbles along with some musical entertainment and no doubt the resident’s choir will be gracing us with a few songs again this year. Just to get an idea of numbers, can you please let the reception know if you can/cannot join us or email us and let us know at ;

We had a great day on Wednesday last. As part of their community outreach programme, Zurich insurance were kind enough to come in and organise a party for the residents in the afternoon. There was singing and dancing and they brought along cakes and decorated the dining room for the residents. There was a great atmosphere in house and the team from Zurich were fantastic with all the residents. Big thanks to everyone involved.
A gentle reminder to all visitors that smoking on the premises is only permitted in certain areas. The smoking area for residents is in the Coolballow internal Garden. Smoking for all other staff and visitors is only permitted in the car park beside the staff/training building inside the front gate. We would appreciate if you could stick to these restrictions as much as possible as we are doing are best to promote a smoke free facility. Many thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
Tea and coffee are both available for all families and visitors in the kitchenette in Coolballow. Please feel free to help yourselves. Unfortunately, the other kitchenettes are working areas and are too busy for us to allow visitors to use. Your understanding is much appreciated.
We said goodbye to weekend receptionist Tiegan during May. Tiegan is now in the Ferry Carrig Hotel so say hello if your ever in. Katie Helen will be taking over for Tiegan to cover reception at the weekends during the summer. Another lovely young face to get to know and welcome everyone into the home.
On Friday the 24th we attended the Wexford Business Awards and we’re very proud to say that we were
Runner Up in the SME (50+ Employees) Category. We had a fantastic night and were joined by resident, Nicky Lacey and Activities, Margaret Ennis who retired last month. What a special
night!
