What a busy Year we’ve had here in Kerlogue.
So many changes.
Both Roxborough and Ronans units were revamped and now have big bright day rooms for all the resident’s to enjoy as well as an extension to the main dining room.
We had our Annual Alzheimer’s Tea morning in May which was, again, a great success and raised much needed funds for our local Alzheimer’s Society here in Wexford. A big thanks to everyone who contributed.
Our Summer Tea Party was a wonderful day of celebration in the sunshine and we had great entertainment and Ice Cream all round.
This September we hosted a Tea Morning for Hospice Homecare Wexford and thank you to everyone who came to support.
Our lovely Matron of over 15 years has moved onto her next challenge and our wonderful, Mary Shanley has stepped into her new role as the Director of Nursing/Matron for the house with her Assistant Director of Nursing role has been taken on by Julia Miller. The house is lucky to have such a great team and we know we are in great hands.
We have lots going on as usual over Christmas.
There will be a lot of local Choirs and school choirs visiting throughout the month to show case their talents for the residents along with some other musical talents. Christmas activities with Deirdre, Betina and Margaret will also be on the cards. Santa might also make a pitstop visit to see everyone.
We are holding the Resident’s afternoon Christmas Party on Friday the 15TH of December from 2.15-4.30. This is a party for the resident’s and if you are free you are more than welcome to join in.

Christmas Presents
If you wish to buy your loved one a Christmas present can we offer a suggestion of everyday essentials. Food and chocolates are discouraged where possible. If you are stuck please do not hesitate to ask one of the carers, they know specifically the needs and wishes of each resident.
Please ensure that any clothes and other belongings are named by leaving at reception before giving anything to your resident.
Flu and Colds
More flu’s and colds are spreading with the weather getting colder and people finding it harder to fight infections in the air.
We just want to remind all families and friends not to visit the nursing home if they have a cold or feel in any way under the weather. We ask this for the safety of our residents.
We would also encourage everyone in the community to get the flu vaccine to prevent any spread of infections. Always remember infection control and please use the hand sanitizers when entering and leaving the building.
