Local Interest

From time to time we organise trips for our residents to nearby local
attractions.
There are many places of interest to be found in the local area, Wexford
Town centre is just 5 minutes drive away. The other local attractions within
a short distance are as follows, to name but a few : |
The National Wildfowl Centre
Wexford is widely known as the best county in Ireland for bird watching.
This is a well-equipped visitor centre and has many exhibitions and an
informative audio visual show.

Johnstown Castle and Gardens
The harmony between great Victorian revival castles and their surrounding
ornamental grounds is rarely seen to such perfection as at Johnstown Castle.

The mature woodlands and lakes of this demesne provide the perfect setting
for this turreted,

battlemented and machicolated castle of gleaming silver-grey ashlar,
built between 1810 and 1855 and
incorporating part of a more ancient castle. |

Irish Agricultural Museum
This Museum is located in the old farmyard buildings of Johnstown Castle,
which were built about 1810. These have been restored and converted to
provide facilities for Ireland's largest Agricultural Museum. There is
also a new display of lawn and garden equipment. The exhibitions cover
farm and rural transport, rural crafts, all the major farming activities |

as well as the activities on
the farmyard and farm dwelling. A large permanent exhibition on the story
of the potato and of the Great Famine of 1845-47 has recently opened. |

Yola Farmstead Folk Park
This 18th century themed farmstead is located between Wexford town and
Rosslare Europort. Featuring a restored farm house, forge, school house,
working mill, thatched cottage, mini-farm, aviary and craft shop. |

Irish National Heritage
Park
The Irish National
Heritage Park depicts many settlements in Ireland from 7000 BC to the
arrival of the Norman's in the 12th century. Stroll through the park
with it's homesteads, places of ritual, burial modes with long forgotten
remains.
